This training is aimed at acquiring basic and advanced skills in the administration of the Apache httpd web server series 2.2 and 2.4 and related technologies. The course focuses both on the basic configuration and administration of the web server, as well as on the configuration of its extension modules. The course also includes technologies and tools that are needed for web server administration. The training takes place in the GNU/Linux environment and consists of lectures (50%) and practical exercises (50%).

Course description

This training is aimed at acquiring basic and advanced skills in the administration of the Apache httpd web server series 2.2 and 2.4 and related technologies. The course focuses both on the basic configuration and administration of the web server, as well as on the configuration of its extension modules. The course also includes technologies and tools that are needed for web server administration. The training takes place in the GNU/Linux environment and consists of lectures (50%) and practical exercises (50%).

Target group

This course is suitable for all UNIX/Linux users interested in administering the multi-platform, open-source Apache httpd web server. Typically, these are system and network administrators or application and web administrators. The course is also suitable for novice Apache httpd administrators or httpd version 2.2 administrators.

Course structure

The general goal of the course is to acquire advanced skills in the administration of the Apache httpd web server, specifically:

Knowledge of web server concepts and related technologies.
The ability to start, stop and check the status of the web server, work with logs.
Basic and advanced web server configuration skills and knowledge of ways to divide configuration files and their administration.
Understanding the principles of expansion modules and their configuration.
Ability to configure frequently used modules.

Prerequisites

For easier work during practical exercises, at least basic knowledge of the UNIX/Linux environment, basic ability to work in the command line and in a text editor, and basic knowledge of network terms (IP address, TCP port, DNS) are assumed.
